Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on Wednesday, 20 May 2026 said the government has issued a new government regulation (PP) on managing exports for natural resources commodities, through appointed state-owned enterprises (SOEs) exports,
Speaking at the House of Representatives building to deliver Indonesia's Macro Economic Framework And Main Fiscal Policies for 2027's State Budget Draft, President Prabowo said based on facts for years between 1991 and 2024, there're export under invoicing that is estimated about 50 percent from value exports that the country should earn.
He also openly explained about less income received by Indonesia compared to other member countries of G20 and in Southeast Asia region due to irresponsible spending that need to be fixed.
"Today, the government that I lead is issuing a government regulation on managing exports of natural resources. This government regulation is a strategic measure strengthening our exports of natural resources commodities," President Prabowo said.
"It must be sold through a government-appointed SOE as the sole exporter," President Prabowo stated..
He said the new rule to manage the export of natural resources commodities through an appointed SOE as a marketing facility is aimed to strengthening surveillance and monitoring in order to fight the practices of under invoicing, transfer pricing, and others.
In the presentation slide, appeared on the screen, when President delivered his speech showing that transitional period will take to months, starting from 1 June and the implementation period will start on 1 August 2026.
"This policy will optimize tax income and state income from our natural resources management. Through this policy, we hope that our income will be like Mexico, the Philippines and our neighing countries," President Prabowo said.***
