Jakarta - Indonesian Army said on Thursday, 16 July 2026 a ammunition storage in Madiun Regency, East Java was exploded, caused one soldier was killed, six others wounded, four of them are in severe injured.

The incident occurred on Thursday morning when soldiers on duty were checking and cleaning the storage and explosive devices said Army Spokesperson Brig.Gen. Donny Pramono during a press conference in Jakarta.

"According to an initial information that we've received, the incident took place when personnel conducting check and maintenance ammunitions in one of storages. In that incident, one personnel was declared death, four other suffer bad injured and two others minor wounded," the spokesperson said.

Brig. Gen. Donny further said the Army set an investigative team and its members have been deploying to Madiun, aiming to find out the cause of the blast.

All details about the source of explosion and what did trigger are still under investigation.

The location of the ammunition storage compound is not close for residential area.***
