Vladivostok - Indonesian Navy and Russian Navy conducted a joint military exercises Orruda 2026, opening in Vladvostok, Russia on Friday, 24 July 2026 led by Indonesian Navy Chief of Staff Navy Admiral Muhammad Ali and Commander of Russian Navy's Pacific Fleet Navy Admiral Viktor Nikolayevich Liina.
The exercises divide into two main phases - Harbor Phase and Sea Phase - that is planned to examine the readiness and professionalism of soldiers from both countries, according to writing statement from Indonesian Navy to journalist on Saturday, 25 July 2026.
Indonesia deploys 145 soldiers, a Navy ship KRI I Gusti Ngurah Rai, a panther helicopter, and a team from Navy Special Force Kopaska. Meanwhile, Russia deploys its corvette Sovershennyy, according to Russian Embassy in Jakarta.
The exercise resumed on 26 July 2026 and according to Indonesia's Navy Commander, all participant soldiers took roles as diplomacy ambassadors and to strengthening deterrence effect of the Navy besides tightening bilateral ties between the two countries.
The two admirals also held a bilateral meeting to discuss strategic plans for a long-term scheme, including for passing exercise, enlarge the scale of joint exercises, soldier and expert exchange program particularly on submarine capabilities for underwater warfare and other strategic cooperations.
