Durian. Only eight political parties will have seats in the House of Representatives from October 2024 to October 2029 out of 17, according to the Indonesia’s General Elections Commission or KPU’s announcement on the results of legislative elections on Wednesday evening, 20 March.

The Indonesia’s Democratic Party of Struggle or PDI-P leads the count, followed by the Golkar Party and Gerindra Party.

PDI-P’s votes in 2024 legislative elections declined to 16.72 percent compared to 2019 elections of 19.33 percent, while Gerindra moved to the third place from the second in the 2019 elections.

From over 151.7 million legitimate ballot papers, eight political parties that will have their representatives in the House of Representative for the next five years are PDI-P, Golkar Party, Gerindra Party, the National Awakening Party or PKB, the National Democratic Party or NasDem, the Prosperous Justice Party or PKS, the Democratic Party, and the National Mandate Party or PAN.

PDI-P: 25,387,279 votes or 16.72 percent
Golkar Party: 23,208,654 votes or 15.28 percent
Gerindra Party: 20,071,708 votes or 13.22 percent
PKB: 16,115,655 votes or 10.61 percent
NasDem Party: 14,660,516 votes or 9.65 percent
PKS: 12,781,353 votes or 8.42 percent
Democratic Party: 11,283,160 votes or 7.43 percent
