Washington DC - U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were evacuated from White House's Correspondents Dinner on Saturday, 25 April 2026 after a shooting incident.
"The president and the First Lady are safe along all protectees. One individual is in custody," U.S. Secret Service Agency's Chief of Communication Anthony Gugglielmi said in a written statement.
The agency is in coordination with the Metropolitan Police Departement investigating a shooting incident "near the main magnetometer screening area at the White House Correspondents' Dinner".
"The condition of those involved in not yet known, and law enforcement is actively assessing the situation," the agency said.
Last year, President Trump skipped the banquet.***
