New York - A fatal incident claimed two lives occurred at LaGuardia airport, New York on Sunday, 22 March 2026 evening when an Air Canada Express aircraft collided with a fire truck when landed there.

"The event happened at LaGuardia airport after Air Canada flight AC8646, operated by Jazz Aviation, a CRJ900 aircraft traveling from Montreal to New York, had landed. Flight AC8646 was carrying 72 passengers and four crew members for a total of 76 people on board," President and CEO of Air Canada Michael Rousseau President and CEO of Air Canada explained.

"We now know that the Captain and the First Officer were killed in the incident," he confirmed, adding that the two were employees of Jazz Aviation, a company that operates aircrafts for Air Canada.

However, the number of injured will be updated later when the company receiving information from local authority.

The emergency team from Air Canada has traveled to New York to assist the situation. ***
