Durian. Indonesia as the chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) this year is hosting three-day ASEAN Youth Dialogue on Development for Sustainable Development Goals, starting on Monday in Jakarta.
“Youth and digital economy are important supports to ensure our region becoming the epicentrum of growth,” Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said in her opening remarks at the youth event.
ASEAN has a huge potential from digital economy and it is expected that by 2030 the regional bloc’s digital economy sector can reach 2 trillion USD, contributing to about 28 percent of its GDP.
The youth event is attended by 60 participants from 10 ASEAN member countries and Timor Leste. They will prepare their recommendation that to be presented during the upcoming ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara on May 10.
