Lombok - A 46 years old British man was found dead after solo diving off Gili Air island, near Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) on Tuesday, 24 March 2026, Mataram's Search and Rescue (SAR) Office said.

Mataram SAR Office said the man, Robert Peter Ladd, did not appear about one hour after going for a shore dive alone.

"The fatal event begun when Robert went for shore dove alone at 11am central Indonesian time at Gili Air waters in North Lombok. A report was made to SAR team when he did not appear after one hour," I Gusti Komang Aryadana, a SAR officer said.

A joint search and rescue operation was taken and in about an hour the man was found in the sea, about 12-meter depth below the surface.

First aid efforts were taken, but the victim had died. The body was later taken to a nearby police hospital.***
