Jakarta - State-owned railway operator Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) on Tuesday, 28 April 3026 confirmed 14 people died from trains crash near Jakarta on Monday evening.
A long-haul train KA Argo Bromo from Jakarta's Gambir Station struck a commuter line train heading for Bekasi at East Bekasi Station about 9pm Jakarta time on Monday.
The commuter line train has stopped at the station to drop and lift passengers when another train struck it.
As of 8.45am on Tuesday, KAI said 14 people have died, and 84 others are injured due to the accident.
The commuter train waited at the station line due to separate accident before train entrance area of East Bekasi Station, where a commuter train from opposite direction, heading to Jakarta, crashed with an electric vehicle.
Commuter train from Jakarta to Bekasi was waiting for the clear line before its departure, but KA Argo Bromo hit it at the station.
All victims are from commuter train, while 240 passengers and crew from KA Argo Bromo survived.
All victims are women as a locomotive of KA Argo Bromo struck a female compartment of the commuter train.***
