Durian. Indonesian West Kalimantan authorities temporarily closed fly-route of state-run low-budget carrier Citilink from Surabaya to Pontianak to avoid upcoming covid-19 case.

The decision was made after two passengers were found reactive to random rapid tests that were conducted at Pontianak airport in West Kalimantan, Head of West Kalimantan Transportation Unit Manto on August 2 as reported by state agency Antara.

Twenty one passengers from Citilink’s Surabaya-Pontianak flight were tested rapidly for covid-19 virus on August 1 after landing at Pontianak airport. The flight departed from Surabaya, East Java.

“Based on a directive from West Kalimantan governor, while waiting for the result of PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests and as the form of the airlines responsibility, we have asked it to suspend the operation of passenger flight from Surabaya [East Java to Pontianak in West Kalimantan] for seven days strating from August 2,” Manto said.

The two passengers are originally from East Java. East Java is still in the list of red zone of affected covid-19. They are waiting for the result of their nasal swab tests.
