Durian. At least 68 have died due to flash floods that hit several locations in Indonesia’s East Nusa Tenggara province since Apr. 4 and 14 others are still missing, the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) said on Apr.5.

Flash floods were triggered by torrential rains affected several villages in East Flores regency. The death toll is expected to rise because data from other locations have yet received due to communication and electricity cut off.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo on Apr.5 has ordered related ministers and head of agencies to take necessary actions for humanitarian reliefs.

Head of National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Doni Monardo, Social Affairs Minister Tririsma Harini and head of Basarnas Henri Alfiani have arrived in East Nusa Tenggara on Apr.5.

East Flores regency contains of several Islands including Adona and Lembata besides eastern part of Flores. No report so far from Lembata.

Search and rescue operation is ongoing to rescue victims. No details on destructions caused by the disaster as of Apr.5 evening.
