Durian. Indonesian National Air Carrier Garuda Indonesia has opened its new domestic route from Balikpapan in East Kalimantan to Tarakan in North Kalimantan on Nov.21.
The airlines serves the new route three times a week, every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday using Bombardier CRJ-1000 airplane, the corporate said in a statement on Nov.21.
The new route is expected to support the airlines’ efforts provide ease and vary options to customers who want to travel to various national tourist destinations, new economy zones in almost all big cities in Indonesia including Tarakan, CEO Irfan Setiaputra said.
“The operating of this new route is part of Garuda Indonesia’s continues commitment in order to support accessibility to tourist destinations and to improve national economy including in Tarakan city through direct flight from other cities such as Balikpapan,” Setiaputra said.
North Kalimantan Provincial Secretary H. Suriansyah said the launching of the new Garuda’s route Tarakan-Balikpapan was in line with the regional government’s commitment and vision to develop the latest-formed province of Indonesia.
“By the opening of Garuda Indonesia’s direct flight to North Kalimantan particularly Tarakan, it’s ease air transportation for the people and the most important thing is we hope investment sector of the province can continuous be developed,” Suriansyah said.
