Durian. The Directorate General of Immigration at Indonesian Justice and Human Rights Ministry give more time to foreign nationals who are stranded in the country due to covid-19 to renewal and extend their visas.

The deadline for visa renewal and extension is set on Sept. 20, the immigration said on its statement to thebigdurian.news on Aug.18.

The policy has been circulating to all immigration offices across the country as of Aug.18.

“Foreigners who hold visa on arrival, single and multiple entry visas, APEC business travel and card (ABTC), crew visit and have emergency stay permit can extend it or apply for visa approval and report to nearest immigration office as latest as on Sept.20, 2020,” Jhoni Ginting, director general immigration said.

Since March, Indonesian government has issued emergency stay permits to foreign nationals who were stranded in the country when the country decided to close its borders for new foreign arrivals to prevent the coming of covid-19 virus from abroad.

Ginting said foreigners who miss the deadline to renew and extend their permit and visa to stay in Indonesia longer will be punished with overstay mulct.

Fine for a day overstay in Indonesia is Rp 1 million ($68.5).
