Durian. Indonesian President Joko Widodo on March 2 announced there are two two Indonesians who are positive of infected by coronavirus, or covid-19, first confirm cases in the country of almost 270 million people.
A 64-year old women and her 31-year old daughter from Depok regency, outskirt Jakarta have been under medical examination at least three days before tests show they are positive having covid-19 on March 1.
“There was information about Japanese who visited Indonesia, resides in Malaysia and was confired of having corona [in Malaysia]. Team from Indonesian traced…the individual who is affected corona met two person [in Indonesia], a 64-year old mother and her 31-year old daughter. Our team checked and found they’re ill,” President Widodo said.
“This morning, I received a report from the health minister that the mother and her daughter are positive of corona [covid-19],” he added.
Health Minister Terawan Agus Purwanto explained further that the Japanese individual had been confirmed positive of having covid-19 after returning from Indonesia.
“We will check again in the next 14 days, if negative [of covid-19], will be released,” he said.
The two patients are now under medical treatment at Sulianti Saroso infectious diseases hospital in Jakarta. Depok is situated in West Java.
The minister said those who were in touch with the two victims have been separated and went through medical checks.
President Widodo and Minsiter Putranto said the government of Indonesia has been preparing to handle the situation according to the World Health Organization (WHO) procedures.
