Jakarta - Indonesian Foreign Ministry on Saturday, 14 February 2026 explained the country's position regarding its potential participation in the International Stabilization Force (ISF), following Hamas Official Osama Hamdan's statement regarding the government of Indonesia's plan to send thousands of troops to Gaza Strip to ensure peace and stability.

Indonesia  stated that the decision to participate in the ISF to be under its national control and based on the United Nations Security Council's Resolution number 2803.

Indonesia holds free and active international relations principle and according to its Constitution, the country of over 280 million population support independence of nations, including the people of Palestine.

On 23 January 2026, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto signed Board of Peace Charter (BoP), initiated by President Donald Trump of the United States of America.

Indonesia's State Secretary Prasetyo Adi on Tuesday, 10 February 2026 admitted the government plan to send up to 8,000 troops for peace mission to Gaza Strip as part of the ISF.

In response to that, Hamas Official Osama Hamdan in an interview with Al Jazeera TV stated that the organization has informed all parties, including Indonesian government that Palestinians do not need guardianship from others.

"Indonesia reaffirm that every possibility to participate in the International Stabilization Force (ISF) is fully under the national control of Indonesia," the Foreign Ministry stated in a written statement.

Therefore, Indonesia said the scope of Indonesian personnel would be limited and specific, according to the mandate and firm national caveats, determined by the government of Indonesia and agreed by the ISF.

The ministry also explained about the national caveats, including the agreement of Palestinians and the mandate for the troops is non-combat and non-demilitarization as well as refusing relocation.
