Durian. Indonesian President Joko Widodo inaugurated 42.5 km toll road which is part of 111.69 km Kayu Agung-Palembang-Betung (Kapalbetung) project in South Sumatra on Jan.26.

The inauguration was held at toll gate Kramasan, Ogan Illir regency, South Sumatra. Kapalbetung toll road is part of trans-Sumatra toll project.

Distance between Bakauheni Port in Lampung and Palembang in South Sumatra is 373 km

Previously, time travel from Bakauheni Port to Palembang could take 12 hours, but with the toll road project, it will only take three to three-and-half hours driving.

“This is a big leap because it can reduce travel time up to 75 percent. Surely, the efficiency can contribute to the reducing of logistic cost and can increase competitiveness for Palembang and Lampung [provinces],” President Widodo said.

Up to Jan.2021, total 657 km toll road of Trans-Sumatra project have been used, while another 603 km is under construction and 430 km in the pre-construction phase.
