Durian. Indonesia’s Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation (PVMBG) has issued a warning on Nov.5 on potential eruption of volcano Mount Merapi that lies between Yogyakarta and Central Java provinces, following the increasing tremors.
Escalating tremor from Mt. Merapi was recorded since October and as of Nov.4, almost 70 quakes were happened, the agency said.
All human activities including sand mining and tourism in the range of five kilometers from the crater of the volcano are forbidden.
Regional governments of Sleman regency in Yogyakarta province, Magelang, Boyolali and Klaten regencies in Central Java were urged to prepare mitigation plans.
From satellite images, a new crater was spotted.
