Jakarta — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong have signed 26 memoranda of understandings at Istana Merdeka on Monday, 6 July 2026, during Leaders' Retreat, deepening bilateral cooperation across economy, defense, energy, and digital transformation .

PM Wong arrived at the presidential palace in Central Jakarta around 11:00 a.m. local time, and Prabowo greeted him with a state welcome ceremony, including the playing of both nations' national anthems. The visit marked the second Leaders' Retreat since Prabowo took office, following the inaugural meeting in Singapore in June 2025.

"This is our second Leaders' Retreat. I also recall that Prime Minister Lawrence Wong was the first foreign head of government to pay a state visit to Indonesia after I became President of the Republic of Indonesia," President Prabowo said.


"This is the second retreat for me. And this meeting, once again shows special relations between Indonesia and Singapore," President Prabowo reiterated after the meeting, explaining strong ties between the two countries.

Before the two leaders made their statements to the press, 26 cooperation agreements were signed between the two countries in various sectors, including economic, trade, communication, defense and environmental cooperations.

"As we have seen, meeting this time has resulted 26 real achievements, concrete achievements in various sectors, 18 government to government cooperation agreements  governments and eight business to business agreements," President Prabowo said, underlining that economic cooperation is still the main pillar for the two countries bilateral cooperations.

According to Singapore's Prime Minister's Office, the visit reaffirmed what it described as a deep and enduring bilateral relationship and both governments' commitment to deepening cooperation. The two leaders reviewed progress on joint projects launched since their last meeting in Singapore in June 2025 and exchanged views on regional and global developments, the office said.

"Our confidence in Indonesia is reflected in our actions. That's why Singapore has been investing  consistently in Indonesia over many years and we will continue to do so. These investments are more than just capital flows, they create businesses, downstream industries, digital infrastructure, opportunities, and good jobs for Indonesians," PM Wong said after meeting. 


PM Wong was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong, Coordinating Minister for Public Services and Defence Minister Chan Chun Sing, Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, Social and Family Development Minister Masagos Zulkifli, and Manpower Minister Tan See Leng, who also oversees energy and science and technology portfolios.
