Durian. The government of Indonesia decided to evacuate its citizens who are crews of Hong Kong’s World Dream cruise in the near future and will place them in an uninhabited island for medical observation related to coronavirus, or covid19.

The decision was made on Feb.24 after related ministers met President Joko Widodo in Jakarta.

The operation of the cruise was halt due to concern on covid19. Three Chinese citizens who had been on onboard the cruise in January were found positive infected covid19.

“We have decided to evacuate crews of World Dream. Yesterday, Navy ship DR Suharso is approaching the sea near Riau territory. [They will be] transferred to DR Suharso and to be observed according to medical procedures as determined by TNI [the Military],” Muhadjir Effendy, the coordinating minister for human development and culture said after meeting the president.

There are more than 150 Indonesian crews onboard World Dream that is currently situated near Singapore.

“The location for medical observation has been determined which is in an island. An uninhabited island of Sebaru, at thousand islands, [off North] Jakarta,” the minister added.

He said the island equips with good facilities needed for medical observation.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Terawan Agus Putranto said the government focuses to evacuate World Dream’s crew members first because its location is near.

The government must put extra caution before evacuate Indonesians who are working onboard Diamond Prince Cruise that is now anchored at Yokohama Port in Japan.
