Durian. Indonesian Transportation Ministry announced that two new seaports, located on Sembilan Island, Kota Baru regency in South Kalimantan will soon to be operated after successful trial for passenger ship to embark and disembark.

The new seaports Marabatuan and Matasiri on Aug.19 have served passenger ship KM Sabuk Nusantara 93 that carried 102 people and logistic supplies.

Before the construction of the ports begun, ships were only anchored in the sea while waiting for embark and disembark process where passengers should continue to shore with small fishing boats.

“Thank God, at this moment, two seaports Marabatuan and Matasiri are ready to be operated to serve people mobility and to ensure safety sailing especially for the society of Sembilan Island, South Kalimantan and surrounding,” Subagiyo, director for seaport affairs at the Transportation Ministry said in a statement on Aug.21.

He did not give further details on the time frame for those ports official operational.
