Durian. Indonesian government considers evacuating its citizens who are working onboard Diamond Prince Cruise that is now anchored at Yokohama Port, Japan.
The cruise is quarantined after some of its passengers and crews were infected coronavirus, or covid19, including four Indonesians. Affected individuals are under medical treatments on shore.
“We want to ensure that they [Indonesian citizens] receive treatment according to the WHO’s protocol. There are 74 of them who are still onboard. We continue discussing with Japan authority,” President Joko Widodo said on Feb.20.
The government has not decided on the location for observing the returnees especially those who are affected covid19.
“It has not been decided whether the evacuation will be using hospital ship or by with airplane. I think soon we will decide it,” the president said during his visit to Pelalawan in Riau province on Feb.21.
Moreover, according to President Widodo, diplomacy process between the two countries is still ongoing.
Indonesian embassy in Japan has been in communication with the citizens to ensure their protection rights are applied as well as providing logistic.
