JAKARTA, July 13 (JDN.id) – Indonesian President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo said on Friday he has ordered Minister of People Housing and Public Works Basuki Hadimulijono to renovate Indonesian sprinter Lalu Muhammad Zohri’s house.
“This morning I have ordered the minister to go to Lombok (West Nusa Tenggara) to renovate Zohri’s house,” President Widodo said during an official visit to Palembang, South Sumatra, as cited from the cabinet secretariat’s website.
Zohri won gold medal for man 100-meter under 20 years old at the 2018 IAAF World Championship in Tempere Stadium, Finland on Wednesday.
The 18-year-old made history for the country as the first Indonesian ever to earn the top award in the competition.
Photos of his family’s modest house in their hometown of Lombok immediately went viral on social media after the victory.
President Widodo will invite Zohri to meet him.
On Friday, Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo said Zohri has also been allocated a job at the ministry.
