Jakarta - Hundreds of Indonesians conveyed their sympathy and condolences on the passing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei at official residence of Iranian Ambassador to Indonesia in Jakarta on Thursday, 5 March 2026.
The Embassy of Iran in Indonesia opened the door for public to convey their condolences on Thursday and Friday.
Khamenei died on 28 February 2026 in United States (US) and Israel joint military operation called Roaring Lion at his residence. Iran launched counter-attack against Israel and US military bases in neighboring countries since then.
At the Ambassador of Iran's residence, mourners were able to write their messages on white boards with title: We convey sympathy and condolences to the nation and state of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the martyr of Ayatollah Al-Uzma Ali Khamenei and strongly condemn the attack of the United States of America and Zionist regime Israel that killed the people of Iran and innocent children.
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has sent a condolence letter to Iranian government on behalf of the people and the nation over the passing of Khamenei, Iranian Ambassador to Indonesia Mohammad Boroujerdi on Thursday to public.
Mass prayer for the soul of Khamenei was also conducted on Thursday.
Ambassador Boroujerdi thanked the government and the people of Indonesia in that occasion.
