Durian. Indonesia received a cargo plane C-130J-30 Super Hercules, produced by Lockheed Martin Aerospace in the US on March 2 and it has been officially handed over to Indonesian government on Wednesday in Jakarta.
President Joko Widodo witnessed the handing over ceremony at Jakarta’s Air Force Base Halim Perdanakusuma as Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto handed over the cargo plane to Indonesia’s Military Commander Navy Admiral Yudo Margono to be operated by the Indonesian Air Force.
C-130J-30 Super Hercules is equipped with high technology for military and non-military purposes, according to President Widodo.
“It can lift 98 parachuters or 128 personnel and 19.9 tons goods. This means it is good for military operation as well as non-military operations and for disaster relief. It can fly all over Indonesia in 11 hours,” President Widodo said.
The airplane will equip Squadron 31 Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base.
Indonesia has purchased five units of C-130J-30 Super Hercules that are expected to arrive in June, July, and October this year as well as in January 2024.
The maintenance and reparation of the cargo plane will be conducted in Indonesia, according to Defense Minister.
