Durian. Indonesian senior diplomat Ambassador Hasan Kleib was elected as one of four deputy director generals of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) on Dec.3 in Geneva.

He was elected along with three other deputies who are from the United States, French and China, Indonesian Justice and Human Rights Ministry said in a statement on Dec.3.

Ambassador Kleib will start his duty as deputy director general for regional and national development sector of WIPO by Jan.1, 2021 for the next six years.

He is currently Indonesian permanent representative to the United Nations (UN), the World Trade Organization (WTO) and other international organizations in Geneva.

‘’It’s marking Indonesia’s diplomacy history where it’s for the first time that an Indonesian representative holds a top strategic position at an important international organization,’’ Justice and Human Rights Minister Yasonna Laoly said.

It is a firm implementation of President Joko Widodo’s mission which to put best Indonesians at international organization, Laoly added.
