Jakarta - Indonesian Health Ministry on Wednesday confirmed that it has received information from Australian government on two measles cases with travel history from Indonesia, no casualties reported.

Through the ministry's social media, posted on Wednesday, 25 February 2025, Acting Director General for Disease Control of Indonesia's Health Ministry Andi Saguni gave details about the two individuals.

"Indonesian Health Ministry received an official notification through International Health Regulation (IHR) mechanism from Australian health authority regarding two measles cases that have travel history from Indonesia," Andi Saguni said.

“Kemenkes RI telha menerima notifikasi resmi melalui mekanisme international health regulation (IHR) dari otoritas kesehatan Australia terkait 2 kasus campak yang memiliki Riwayat perjalanan dari Indonesia.

He said the first person is a 18-year old girl who was traveling from Jakarta to Perth, using Batik Air on 7 and 8 February 2026. She showed measles symptoms on 8 February and confirmed positive through PCR tests in Perth. The 18-year old girl got complete vaccinations for measles.

Meanwhile, the second individual is a six-year old girl who traveled from Jakarta to Sydney by Garuda Indonesia on 17 February 2026 with measles symptoms such as coughing and fever. PCR tests on 18 February confirmed that she's affected by measles. And she has yet received measles vaccine.

There were 11,094 measles cases recorded across the globe in 2025 and 550 cases in 2026 so far, Andi Saguni said, adding no pandemic situation regarding the disease in Indonesia.***
