Durian. Mount Rinjani that is situated in Rinjani-Lombok Unesco Geopark will be closed for public climbing activities since January 1 to March 31, 2020, according to the management of the park.
Mount Rinjani is located on Lombok Island in Indonesia’s West Nusa Tenggara province.
In its official announcement on Dec.27, the management said the reasons behind the closure is including plan to revitalize ecosystem and weather forecast from Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) on possible heavy rains that can danger climbers.
The closure of the park was decided in a meeting on Dec.27, which the participants also agreed to apply new entrance fee in the weekend which will be 50 percent higher than weekdays.
