Jakarta - Japanese Embassy in Indonesia on Thrusday, 5 March 2026  held a signing grant ceremony, giving over 168,000 US dollar for three human security projects in three locations across Indonesia.


The three projects are the construction of school building for community learning center in Lamahara, East Flores in East Nusa Tenggara, provision of medical equipment for general hospital in West Tasifeto, Belu in East Nusa Tenggara and the construction of Islamic elementary school building in Karang Pucung, South Lampung, Lampung.

Charge d’Affairs of Japan Embassy in Indonesia Mitsuru Myochin represented the government of Japan to sign those grant contracts with grant awardees’ representatives – Head of Community Learning Center (CLC) Sirfah Abubakar Sidik Nira, Head of Marianum Halilulik Catholic Hospital Sister Maria Adriana Neno and Principle of Al-Hidayah Islamic Elementary School Sajirun.

“Japan put very important on what we called human security, for people live with dignity, also education and health are very important for people who lives in the country side area,” Myochin said after the signing ceremony. 

“We understand the need for that novelties very big. So, that is why we are now focusing on these sectors. These types of assistance very much for grassroot needs,” he added.

Meanwhile, Director for Community Affairs at the Indonesian Home Affairs Ministry  Wahyu Chandra in his remarks conveyed the government of Indonesia gratitude for the government of Japan’s sustainable assistance for vary grassroot groups in Indonesia by giving grants.

“The government of Indonesia, particularly the Home Affairs Ministry, has witnessed various good practices of partnership between Japan Embassy in Indonesia and its consular offices with civil society groups in many regions,” Wahyu said.

Grant awardees thanked the government of Japan that has provided grassroot assistance through its representative office in Indonesia.

“Signing of the grant contract today is a real commitment from Japan Embassy in supporting education in frontier, outmost and less developed regions that are still experiencing limitation, infrastructure insufficient that is felt by teachers and students at CLC Sirfa,” Abubakar said.
