Durian. Japan Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga and spouse plan to visit Indonesia on Oct.20-21 as it was announced by the government of Japan, Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said on Oct.16 from Geneva.
“The visit to Indonesia will be one of a series of the first overseas trip of Prime Minister Suga. Prime Minister Suga will also visit Vietnam which is the chairman of Asean [Association of Southeast Asian Nations] this year,” Minister Marsudi said.
Prime Minister Suga took office on September 14, replacing Shinzo Abe who had resigned from the post due to sickness.
“This visit shows Japan commitments to continue improving its bilateral relation with Indonesiaa and interpreting existing strategic partnership between the two countries,” the senior diplomat said in the sidelines of her official visit to Switzerland.
Prime Minister Suga and Indonesian President Joko Widodo will discuss about cooperation in the context of covid-19 pandemic from health aspect and economic perspective as well as how the two countries can contribute in peace and stability in the region – including in Asean and Indo-Pacific – and in the world.
“Indonesia warmly welcome this plan of visit,” Minister Marsudi said.
