Durian. The General Elections Commission, KPU, on Jan.31 announced a list of 49 former corruption convicts who ware registered as lawmaker candidates for April 2019 legislative elections.

There are 40 candidates for legislators at regional level – provincial and regency or municipal – from 12 political parties, while nine others are candidates of provincial representatives.

Golkar with eight, Gerindra with six, Hanura, Berkarya, Democrat and PAN, Garuda with four candidates each, PKP Indonesia, Perindo, PDI-P, PKS and PBB registered one candidate each.

Only four political parties clear from the list – the National Democrat (NasDem), the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), the United Development Party (PPP) and the National Awakening Party (PKB).

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) welcomed the KPU’s announcement.
