Durian. Flight data recorder (FDR) of flight SJ-182 was found on Jan.12 at the waters in Thousand Islands, Jakarta by divers who join search and rescue operation to find the missing aircraft, operated by Sriwijaya Air, and will keep searching for its cockpit voice recorder (CVR).

‘’At 4.40 p.m. western Indonesian time, the Navy commander reported that FDR was found. Our focus is to search for its cockpit voice recorder (CVR),’’ Indonesian Military Commander Air Chief Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto said at Tanjung Priok Port in North Jakarta.

Two CVR’s beacons have been found near the site where FDR was found on Jan.12.

FDR was handed over to the National Commission for Safety Transportation (KNKT) for examination to find the cause of the aviation accident.

Flight SJ-182 lost contact with air traffic control at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten, just four minutes after taking off for Pontianak in West Kalimantan. The aircraft carried 62 people – 50 passengers, including seven children and three babies and 12 crews.

No Blast

Head of KNKT Soerjanto Tjahjono said no explosion happened when flight SJ-182 crashed the sea surface.

The initial conclusion was based on data from Indonesian Airnav’s radar and wreckages of the aircraft, found around Lancang and Laki Islands’ waters, Tjahjono said in Jakarta on Jan.11.

Sriwijaya Air in its statement on Jan.12 said that the airplane, Boeing 737-500, was worthy to fly. It had certificate of airworthiness, issued by the Transportation Ministry, which will be expired on Dec.17, 2021, Adita Irawati, spokesperson of the ministry said.
