Manila - Majority of Philippines lawmakers on Monday, 11 May 2026 voted for the passing of impeachment article against Vice President Sara Duterte, a second time after she secured office in June 2022.

If success, the impeachment will harm the 47-year old politician's plan to run for 2028 presidential race.

Former Davao City Mayor was accused of misusing public funds and threatening the lives of President Ferdinand "Bonging" Marcos Jr., his wife, and Former House Speaker Martin Romualdez in the impeachment complaint, the same grounds in the first impeachment trial in 2025.

From 290 lawmakers who attended Monday night's session, 257 have voted in favor for impeachment.***
