Washington DC - U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday, 7 April 2026 announced that he agreed for a ceasefire with Iran, giving the timeline of 14 days.

The written announcement was published by the White House, saying that the decision was taken based on his conversations with Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief of Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir.

President Trump said that Pakistani leaders requested him to hold off sending U.S. force to strike Iran if the Persian country agreed to "complete, immediate, and safe opening of the Strait of Hormuz".

"I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for period of two weeks. This will be a double sided ceasefire!" President Trump said.

Further he said that U.S. has received 10 point of terms from Iran in ceasefire negotiation where U.S. proposed 17 point of conditions.

The ceasefire halt U.S.-Israel joint military operation against Iran that was started on 28 February. Iran launched its counter-attacks since, directly to Israel and to Arab countries - United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and Jordan - as it had said that those countries' territory were used by U.S. to attack Iran.***
