Riyadh - Saudi Arabia's Defense Ministry on Tuesday, 3 March 2026 said it managed to intercept and destroy seven drones from Iran, including two that targeted the country's largest oil company Aramco's Ras Tanura Refinery on Monday.

Saudi Defense Ministry Spokesperson Maj. Gen. Turki Al-Maliki confirmed the attempted, saying although the drones targeting Ras Tanura Refinery ware intercepted, but still caused small fire from its debris inside the refinery compound, Saudi Press Agency reported .

Ras Tanura Refinery has capacity of 550,000 barrels per day. Fire was contained and no casualties were reported.

Due to the incident, some operating units in the refinery were temporarily shut down as a precaution, the spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, five other drones intercepted and destroyed, initially targeted Saudi's Prince Sultan Air Base in Al Kharj.
