Durian. Saudi Arabia’s Crown Price Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulazis on Sunday announced the establishment of the country’s new national air carrier Riyadh Air, according to the country’s state news agency Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The Crown Prince who is also Chairman of the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and the new national air carrier will be operated by a PIF wholly owned company, aimed to leverage Saudi’s strategic geographic location between three continents – Asia, Africa and Europe – enabling Riyadh to become a gateway to the world and a global destination for transportation, trade and tourism.

Riyadh Air will be chaired by PIF Governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan and led by Tony Douglas as its CEO.

The airline is expected to contribute US$20 billion to Saudi’s non-oil GDP growth and to create over 20,000 direct and indirect jobs.
