Durian. Indonesian government on Dec. 26 announced companies that will be part of consortium to develop its Komodo Airport in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara, which including Singaporean Changi International Airports.
The consortium named as Cardig Aero Service (CAS) to be led by Indonesian airport services provider Cardig Aero Services with other partners are Singaporean Changi International Airports that was successfully managed the country’s international airport Changi and Changi Airports MENA also from Singapore.
“From bidding, we have determined CAS Consortium as the winner for Komodo Airport development project in Labuan Bajo,” Indonesian Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said in Jakarta.
The consortium is form of government and private business cooperation scheme.
The development of the airport is related to the government of Indonesia efforts to encourage private business to participate in infrastructure development that will have social and economic impact to the society.
Labuan Bajo is one of Five New Balis, new tourist destinations without that have been promoting since early of 2019.
From Labuan Bajo where is situated on Flores Island, tourists can visit Komodo Island, Komodo dragon conservation and travel to other parts of Flores.
Total investment that is expected to manage Komodo Airport is about Rp 1.2 trillion ($86 million) and for 25 years of operation for Rp 5.7 trillion.
The airport operator obligates to pay concession fee Rp 5 billion and annual concession fee which is 2.5 percent from profit which can be paid twice a year. The annual concession fee will increase 5 percent from previous year.
