Durian. Indonesian Military (TNI) said two soldiers were shot by members of criminal armed group (KKB) on Jan.22 and have died during evacuation process to nearby hospital in Indonesia’s Papua.

Col. I.G.N. Suriastawa, spokesperson of the Joint Regional Defense Command (Kogabwilhan) III of TNI said the two were shot in separate time and locations.

First victim, Private Roy Vebrianto was shot after performing Morning Prayer at Battalion Raider 400’s post in Titigi hamlet at Sugapa district, Intan Jaya regency. Verbrianto was shot from close-range of about 200 meters.

Due to the shooting, TNI personnel were chasing for the shooter when the second victim Private Dedi Hamdani from military post at Hatadipa was shot from elevations of forest at Old Sugapa hamlet at Hitadipa village, Intan Jaya regency.

‘’The two victims have died during evacuation process to Timika by air using helicopter,’’ Suriastawa said.
No one has claimed responsible for the shootings on Jan.22.
