New York - The United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, 24 February 2026 adopted a new resolution "Support for lasting peace in Ukraine", marking four years of Russia's invasion into Ukraine.
The resolution was favored by 107 countries, while 12 countries against it and 51 countries abstain, including China, India and Indonesia.
The United States of America was among countries that against the resolution, along with Russia, North Korea, Iran, Belarus, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cuba, Eritrea, Mali, Nicaragua, Niger and Sudan.

The resolution is calling for comprehensive, just and lasting peace as well as exchange of prisoners of war and return of civilians forcibly transferred, including children.
Members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) divided about the resolution, but none against it.
ASEAN member countries that supported the resolution were Timor Leste, Thailand Singapore, the Philippines, Myanmar, Malaysia, and Cambodia. While Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Lao PDR and Vietnam voted for abstention.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked 107 countries that supported the resolution, initiated by Ukraine.
"I am grateful to each of the 107 countries that stood with Ukraine today in defense of life at the UN. The General Assembly adopted our resolution in support of a lasting peace, with clear calls for a full ceasefire and the return of our people," said through his social media accounts.***
