Durian. The increasing of covid-19 confirmed case in many locations on Java and Bali forced the government of Indonesia restrict the movement of people (PPKM) by imposing tight health protocol in two islands starting from Jan.11-25.

‘’The implementation of the restriction will be applied in provinces in Java and Bali because all of the area suit to four parameters,’’ Erlangga Hartarto, head of National Committee for handling covid-19 and economic recovery said on Jan.6 in Jakarta after a limited cabinet meeting on the issue.

The four parameters to determine the restrictions are mortality rate is above national average of 3 percent; recovery rate is below national average of 82 percent; the number of active case is below national rate of 14 percent and hospital occupancy rate for ICU and isolation is above 70 percent.

The restriction of the mobilization of people on Java and Bali Islands will be similar with large-scale social distancing method in which work from home, study from home, limitation of operation hours for essential business and tight health protocol practices.

All social and cultural events will be prohibited, lifting capacity of public transportation to be ruled further to maintain social distancing.

The decision was made during the distribution of covid-19 vaccines to all over Indonesia and the country prepares to conduct national vaccination program, targeting 181 million people, which to be started in the second week of January.

President Joko Widodo ensured on Jan.6 in Jakarta that he will be the first in line to receive the vaccine.

Head of National Task Force for Handling Covid-19 Doni Monardi on Jan.7 from Jakarta called all monitoring posts all over Indonesia to be reactivated to ensure the implementation of health protocol.

He hoped that the implementation of PPKM can reduce the increasing number of covid-19 case.
