New York - An explosion that hit a logistic convoy of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), killing two Indonesian peacekeepers and injuring two others in southern Lebanon on Monday, 30 March 2026.
Total three Indonesian peacekeepers under the UNIFIL have been killed in the last two days in Lebanon.
"This morning, two Indonesian peacekeepers lost their lives in an explosion that hit the UNIFIL's logistic convoy, destroying their vehicle near Bani-Hayat, sector East. Two more peacekeepers are injured, one seriously. The origin of the explosion has not been determined," Chief of United Nations Peacekeeping Jean-Pierre Locroix said.
He said UNIFIL is investigating two fatal incidents that cost lives of three Indonesian soldiers under the blue helmet.
Locroix conveyed his condolences to the government of Indonesia and the family of three UNIFIL peacekeepers who died during their service for peace.
"Attacks against UN peacekeepers are unacceptable and may constitute war crimes," he said.***
