Jakarta - German Ambassador to Indonesia Ralf Beste has announced that his President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will meet President Prabowo while visiting Jakarta on 15 June 2026 to emphasize a strong and reliable bilateral partnership between two countries.
"We are committed to being a long-term ally, ready to face the challenges of the future. It's his (President Steinmeier) first visit as president to meet President Prabowo after he was inaugurated," Ralf Beste said on 12 June 2026, in press conference in Jakarta
President Steinmeier will be accompanied by cultural delegations, scientists, and business representatives from various sectors, including logistics, worker mobility, digital, and machine tools.
German President would also visit the Istiqlal Mosque and Tunnel of Friendship, which connected the passage to Jakarta Cathedral, and then hold a dialogue with local researchers and public intellectuals to discuss about Indonesia's contemporary development issues.
Ambassador Beste said that German-Indonesian cooperation had been significantly improved and supported the development of technology in several sectors, especially for co-production of oceanography vessels to support Indonesia's maritime and environmental research.
