Jakarta - Hundreds of students and farmers gathered outside Indonesia’s Parliament Building 0n Monday, 22 June 2026,  calling for sweeping agrarian reform and changes to land policy as well as justice to be granted for indigenous rights.

The demonstration was organised by the National Student League for Democracy (LMND), the National Agrarian Reform Coalition (KNARA), and farming groups from Sumatra.

The rally  begun around 8 a.m. local time outside the House of Representatives complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, with organiser' estimating initially that between 1,000 and 2,000 participants to participate.

Protesters demanded a review of forest zoning policies, which they say have restricted access to land traditionally cultivated by local communities.

The groups also called for an end to the criminalisation of farmers involved in land disputes and urged the government to accelerate long-promised agrarian reform measures.

Some participants signaled plans for symbolic extreme protest actions, including self-burial demonstrations, to draw attention to their demands.

Other demands included the establishment of a national agrarian reform body and stronger action against alleged illegal land practices.

The demonstration continued under police monitoring, with authorities maintaining security around the parliament complex.

Representatives of the protesters were received by leaders of Commission IV of the House of Representatives that handle this issue. The commission is led by Titiek Suharto.***
