North Halmahera - Finding two Singaporean hikers in the slope of Mount Dukono in North Halmahera in Indonesia's North Maluku on Sunday, 10 May 2026 has ended three-day search and rescue operation after the volcano's huge eruption on Friday.
The two victims were buried under the volcanic materials when finding by rescuers. Their bodies were taken to nearby hospital.
Total 17 people are survived, including 7 Singaporeans and three other have died, including two Singaporeans.
The volcano spew a column of ashes of about 10,000 meter high from the mountain's top in Friday morning, five survivors were injured.
"Joint SAR team finally found two last victims of Mt. Dukono eruption on the third day of searching on Sunday, 10 May 2026. The two Singaporean nationals were found death," the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) said in its press statement.
Due to ongoing eruption of Mt. Dukono, authorities forbid any activity to conducted in the range of 4 km from the volcano for safety reason.***
