Jakarta - Indonesia's Foreign Ministry on Saturday, 28 February 2026 issued an official response of the government of Indonesia regarding US-Israel joint military operation towards Iran, called "Lion's Roar", saying that President Prabowo Subianto is ready to become a mediator in the fresh armed conflict among the three nations. 

Indonesia also conveyed its deeply regrets on the failure of the nuclear negotiations between the Trump Administration and the Iranian Authority, emphasizing the importance of respecting the "sovereignty and territorial integrity of every country". 

"The Government of Indonesia, particularly the President of the Republic of Indonesia, expresses his readiness to facilitate dialogue to re-establish a conducive security condition and if agreed by both parties, the President of Indonesia is willing to travel to Tehran, to conduct mediation," the Foreign Ministry said in its official statement on X.

Indonesia's representative in Iran also announced a commitment to having two-way communication and protecting 329 Indonesians in Tehran alone.

"As of 2:30pm Iranian time, we have contacted all of Indonesian in various cities in Iran and they reported that they have not experienced or felt any direct threats,"Indonesian Ambassador to Iran Rolliansyah Soemirat said from Tehran. 

The Indonesian Embassy in Tehran continues urging Indonesian citizens to take necessary steps to ensure their safety as well as their families. 

"The assessment of security in Iran will continue to be carried out by the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jakarta," he said.***
