Papua - The military wing of the Free Papua Movement (OPM), the West Papua Liberation Army (TPNPB) issued a statement on Sunday, 22 March 2026 saying it has killed and Indonesian soldier and wounded two others during an attack to a military post.
The attack took place on Sunday at Indonesian Military's (TNI) post, situated at South Aifat, Maybrat Regency in Southwest Papua.
"The attack and exchanged of fires have caused the death of Private Sundon due to gunshot at his chest, while his two other companions are in critical condition and were taken from Maybrat to Sorong," Sebby Sambom, spokesperson for TPNPB-OPM said in a written statement.
From the attack, two military weapons and logistic belong to the TNI have been seized by TPNPB-OPM members under the commander of Brig. Gen. Denny Moos, the press release said.
"The central command of TPNPB urges President Prabowo Subianto and his colonial military apparatus to not conduct any military operation and stop arresting and shooting civilians," the TPNPB said, adding it is tge responsible party for the military post attack.***
