Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on Wednesday, 20 May 2026 reiterated his government's economic growth expectation in in 2027 to reach between 5.8 percent to 6 percent year-on-year.
Speaking at the House of Representatives building in Jakarta, President Prabowo delivered the country's 2027 Budged Year's Macro Economic Plans, which including significant derivatives.
Indonesia expects its currency against US dollar in the average 16,800 to 17,500 rupiah in 2027. Indonesia's rupiah plunged sharply on Wednesday, 20 May 2026 morning at 17.869 against dollar, the lowest ever since Asia's economic crisis in 1997-1998.
Indonesia's fiscal and monetary policies that are able to maintain the stability of the currency against global currencies, President Prabowo said.
"I am sure that Indonesia's economic growth can grow from 5.8 up to 6 percent in 2027 in its way to 8 percent of economic growth in 2029," President Prabowo said.
On Tuesday, Indonesian Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said Indonesia's economic growth in the first quarter of 2026 was at 5.61 percent.
Further in his speech, President Prabowo said the positive economic growth must be reflected through the real improvement of the people's prosperity.
In his macro economic plans, President also announced the establishment of special state-owned enterprise for exporting commodities. ***
