Shanghai - Indonesia's air mobility pioneer Whitesky Group on Wednesday, 22 July 2026 has signed a letter of intent (LoI) with China's Volant Aerotech Co., Ltd. to purchase 60 unit of eVTOL in the sidelines of International low-altitude economy forum in Shanghai, China.
The signing of the LoI is a strategic measure to speed to Indonesia's air mobility transformation and and to enlarge its operational experience for helicopter service into the new generation of advanced air mobility.
"Through this LoI, Whitesky is preparing plan to buy 60 unit of eVTOL (from) Volant. However, this measure is not only about the number of plane. We have been developing a pathway of implementation so this technology can be operated safely, in line with regulations, and commercially visible," said Founder and CEO Whitesky Group Denon Prawiraatmadja in Shanghai after the signing of the LoI.
Draft of plan related to the purchasing of eVTOL is directed to support various operating scenarios, starting from urban connectivity, access to and from airports, tourism, mining, agriculture, down streaming industry to inter-island short link.
However, the realization of the plan will be conducted gradually, having aircraft certification, getting approval from regulator, technical evaluation as well as visibility of business model.
"Indonesia needs real connectivity. The market is not in big cities, but spreading in industrial sites, tourist destinations, and islands territory which need more flexible mobility solution," CeO Denon explained.

Whitesky that is now as an operator of Jakarta's Halim Perdanakusuma Airport has wider experiences regarding modern air transport mobility and having infrastructur to adjust with various rules.
In that forum, Denon Prawiraatmadja was a speaker in a seminar titled “APAC & Middle East Market Access & Globalization Practices”.***
