According to the Directorate General of Penitentiary (Ditjenpas) of the Immigration and Penitentiary Ministry, from those who received sentence cut, 1,143 of adult inmates have been released as well as 19 juveniles.
Director General of Penitentiary Mashudi delivered sentence cut certificates directly on Saturday at prison for drugs convicts at Gunung Sindur, Bogor.
According to Minister of Immigration and Penitentiary Agus Andrianto, giving the sentence cut to those inmates whom had shown good deeds can motivate other inmates to perform good behavior and active participation in various activities inside the prisons.
Moreover, by giving the sentence cut to inmates will also reduce meals budget as for over 156 thousand inmates could save 109,261,845,000 rupiah or equal with about 6.4 million USD.
