Islamabad - Pakistani Minister of Foreign Affairs Shehbaz Sharif, who plays a key role as mediator, has announced that the United States and Iran's officials had agreed to sign a peace deal by next Friday, 19 June 2026 in Switzerland.

Minister Sharif also expressed his appreciation to Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkiye who also give contribution in mediation efforts to make peace between both parties - U.S. and Iran - , who also accepted the deal framework to halt the US blockade of Iran and reopen the Stait of Hormuz.

"We would like to thank the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran for their commitment to finding a diplomatic solution to the conflict. With the agreement now in place, mediators will facilitate a series of meetings this week. These pre-implementation discussions will lay the foundation for the technical talks and the official signing ceremony," Minister Sharif wrote on his X platform on Monday, 15 June 2026.

Sharif announcement has been confirmed by the U.S. and Iran. President Donald Trump highlighted that the deal will “fully authorize the toll free opening of the Strait of Hormuz”. He also determined about “the immediate removal” of the U.S. Naval blockade in the region.

However, President Trump warned that if Iran fails to to reach a final nuclear accord with the U.S., he would restart military attacks on Tehran or make the U.S. “the guardian of the Middle East” in return for 20 percent of the region’s revenues, as cited by the New York Times.

“This Great Deal will bring Peace and Security to the whole Region. Many presidents have tried to make Peace with Iran, and all have failed before me. With the opening of the Strait upon the signing of the Deal on Friday, for purposes of mine removal, oil will flow on both ends again for the Region, and the World!” President Trump said on his Truth Social account.

In response to that, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi also confirmed the the peace deal will be held during 60-day period, to ensured that both parties would not violate each other. He said that the agreement will emphasized "immediate and permanent end of the war and all military operations on various fronts" including Lebanon. Iran’s agreement came after 14 hours of talks with mediators from Qatar.

According to Reuters, a senior Iranian official said that final draft of the memorandum of understanding with the U.S. covered a ​range of issues, from Tehran’s nuclear work to reopening the ‌Strait of Hormuz and U.S. waivers on oil sanctions, with a final deal to be discussed in the 60 days following agreement by the two sides.***
