Bogor - Indonesian President Probate Subianto is not coming to Russia for Russia-ASEAN Summit that will be held in Kazan on 17 and 18 June 2026, State Secretary MInister Prasetyo Hadi said on Wednesday, 17 June 2026 in Hambalang, Bogor, saying the two leaders previously have met  recently in Kremlin and discussed various strategic issues.

The decision to not attend Russia-ASEAN Summit in Kazan, Russia is due to many domestic tasks that President Prabowo needs to finish, the minister explained.

On Tuesday, President Prabowo held several meeting at his private residence in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, including meeting with national team for hajj 2026. 

"Firstly, of course he has his own consideration because actually there are a lot of things that he wants focusing to finalize them domestically," Minister Prasetyo told journalists.

Moreover, President Prabowo has met many ASEAN Leaders during last summit in Manila, Philippines.

"Secondly, with leaders of ASEAN countries, some times ago, he (President Probate) was presented in (ASEAN Summit) in Philippines, a lot of things have been discussed, including bilateral relations with friend countries, especially Russia. Some times ago also, he has met President Putin discussing many things," Minister Prasetyo explained.

Among ASEAN member states' leaders who attend Russia-ASEAN Summit are Brunei Darussalam Sultan Hasanal Bolkiah and Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr..***
